While middle class Canadian families are struggling to make ends meet, the Liberal government continues to use Canadian tax dollars at their leisure and pleasure, without being accountable to Canadians for the money being spent. While Liberals continue this spending spree, they at the same time raising taxes and cutting tax saving measures introduced by our previous Conservative government, without regard for the impact it will have on all Canadians.

Conservatives have been fighting hard in the House of Commons, holding this Liberal government to account for their out of control spending. While just a few months into their mandate, the Liberals have already started to submit a long list of outrageous expenditures. Over $35,000 was spent in New York for car rentals, and additional $5,000 was spent on tips and gratuities. All of this is in addition to vanity trips taken by the Minister of International Trade and the excessive office renovations by the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities. As unemployment continues to rise, especially in the oil and gas industry, and families continue to struggle with day to day expenses, how can the Liberals afford to be so wasteful?

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Trudeau visited Washington on an official trip, which was reportedly to have cost $25,000. However, after all expenses were declared, it ended up costing taxpayers $257,000. What was most shocking was that this visit could have been used as a platform to promote job creation in the Canadian oil and gas sectors that have been most affected by the recent downturn. Shamefully, while many of these unemployed Canadians sat at home, Prime Minister Trudeau decided it was of greater importance to take his Director of Advertising to Washington instead of the Natural Resources Minister.
